Shakespeare Workshops

Of the ten or so productions a year produced at YSP, usually at least two are workshops. YSP logoSometimes a Workshop focuses on a single play, but more often the scenes are selected according to a theme.

With only occasional exceptions, YSP has kept the same popular theme for the Spring Workshop (March through May):  “Shakespeare: One-on-one.”  The YSP Winter Workshop (January through March), selects from a variety of themes in the hope that the entertainment will help “To Drive the Cold Winter Away” (the Winter Workshop’s theme song from the Renaissance era). Other projects occasionally replace the Winter Workshop.

All of the Workshops allow for wonderful flexibility since actors and directors work together to choose the scenes best suited for the current group of participants.   By working on a variety of roles and scenes in this format, the participant can experience some of the best possible training in acting.

YSP also offers numerous brief, focused workshops on Shakespeare's language. These are open to adults as well as YSP's young actors.
